About The Gateway Project

Rendering by Weiss/Manfredi.

The Gateway at UC Berkeley is an ambitious project that will house the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS), making it the first new college at the university in 50 years. Located at the prominent corner of Hearst Avenue and Arch Street, this 367,270-square-foot facility is designed to foster collaboration among faculty, students, researchers, and staff. The building will feature state-of-the-art research laboratories, classrooms, seminar rooms, a public café, and a rooftop event space. Expected to open during the 2025-2026 academic year, The Gateway is set to become a hub for innovation and interdisciplinary research, addressing some of society's greatest challenges through education and data science.
